Summer Youth Faith Formation (YFF) 2021 will meet on June 14-17 and June 21-24 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. This is open to any child who attends public school in grades Kindergarten – 5th grade.
In addition, we offer refreshers during the school year from 10:05 AM – 10:45 AM on Sundays once a month from September through April for grades K-5th. These classes for 2020-21 are held at the church on Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 10, Dec. 6, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, Mar. 28, & Apr.11. Sunday REfresher dates for 2021-22 will be posted at a later date.
Ignite is a 4-day, 3-night faith formation program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Programming is aimed at helping middle schoolers put their faith into action. The days are spent helping others in our community. Each afternoon/evening, the middle schoolers learn about How, Why, and Where God is calling them to be Christ's presence for others.
This year's theme is Body Builders, learning all about what it means to build up the Body of Christ. It takes place at Shalom Spirituality Center from July 25-28th.
In addition, we encourage your middle schooler to join us at the Resurrection School gym for Foundation Nights one or two Wednesdays a month throughout the school year from 6:30 - 7:45 PM to build community with their Resurrection peers. To find out more about Foundation, check out our middle school youth ministry page by clicking HERE.
Home School Youth Faith Formation (YFF) is available for children in K – 8th grade. We provide you with a textbook and online resources to make teaching your child the faith a smooth and enjoyable process. You can choose from either our summer or our school year program.

Having never been a teacher, how do I learn to teach?
Your DRE will assist you. In-services are provided several times a year that deal with effective teaching techniques as well as growing in your faith.
Who will assist me with lesson plans?
The teachng guides are designed for the non-professional teacher. They are user friendly and have a multitude of ideas on how to prepare and present lessons.
Without a background in theology, how am I able to pass on the faith?
The role of catechists is not based on a professional background in theology, rather, the ability to share faith, live faith, and journey with young people as their faith develops and matures.
What if I don’t know the answers to the questions young people ask?
It is perfectly okay to say “I don’t know, but I will find out.” Resources are available through your DRE and the Archdiocese. You will learn together with young people.
Please contact the parish’s Director of Religious Education, Wendy Osterberger, at (563) 556-7511 or dbq058re@dbqarch.org for more information on how you can give of your time and talent.
